While I was pregnant I read a million posts just like the one I am about to write, why you might be thinking. Every baby is different, you will read that over and over again. Also what I found useful someone else might have found useless, so I read many lists and compared if something appeared multiple times it seemed more likely to be useful. My attempt was to be somewhat minimalist in our collection of baby items. I think overall we were successful in our attempt, for now at least, Little Man is only 2 months old.
So my most useful baby items in no particular order.
Aden and Anais swaddle blankets - these are super light weight which is perfect is Texas summer heat, but they also keep Little Man warm enough when the A/C is blasting away. I have used them to wipe up spit up and lay him down when we've been at the grandparent's houses. We use one to swaddle him every night, he's a traditional baby and likes the blanket and not all the zipper or velcro swaddle sacks. He really likes his hands free and most of those keep babies hands tucked inside.
Burpy Bibs - these are made by Aden and Anais and I have 2 of those, but also but I purchased another version from Amazon. Both are great as burp cloths so far but they are large in size and have a snap on the back to turn them into bibs. I know this will become more useful in a few months once teething and food are entered into the mix.
Cloth Diapers - this goes along with burp cloths, once Little Man was almost a month old the spit up started. Sometimes it was a small amount, other times it was a whole lot. So I added some cloth diapers into the mix to ensure we always have something to grab to clean up baby messes. You can dress these up if your crafty, ours are nice and plain. These are also his current favorite "toy" he likes to hold on to them and chew on them.
Rock and Play - we were gifted this by a friend, so our was gently used but it has been a lifesaver throughout the newborn process. Those first few weeks he slept a lot and the rocking sensation helped him sleep a little longer. I still use it daily for at least one of his naps.
Chicco Lulluby Playard.aka Pack and Play - This is where Little Man sleeps at night and some naps this is in our bedroom next to our bed. The storage for the changing area is very generous and allows us to keep lots of diapers and other baby needs within arms reach. Initially he slept on the bassinet portion but he got a cold when he was just a few weeks old and needed to sleep on an incline, so he's been in the newborn napper since. I'm getting ready to transition him back to the larger flat surface soon.
Graco Sous Chef high chair - this I purchased after we had Little Man a week or two but I wish I had it from day one. What makes this high chair different is the newborn napper attachment. This clicks into the highchair frame allowing baby to be in the kitchen or join you at the table from the start. Little Man loves being part of making dinner now and watching me do anything in the kitchen. The base has four wheels the front two are fixed and have "breaks" the back two rotate so it is best to push it around with the back wheels furthest from you. But with this chair I can push him around to where we are and he's not on the floor so he's more engaged in what is going on around him. When he is fussy this chair helps soothe him and calm him down, between the vibration and being able to walk him around.
Jujube BFF - this is the diaper bag I have, I love all the features it has and how it is completely washable. It does seem a touch small at times if were going to spend the day at Grandma's for example, or I am an over packer. I keep it very organized and after a day or two out with Little Man I realized what I actually needed vs what I had seen on Pinterest and YouTube. The hardest part was choosing a color/pattern.
Those are probably the most used things, now as I and many other have said every baby is different. My Little Man did not like silicon bottle nipples when we had to start supplementing but will take them now. But that is another story. I hope you enjoy these products as much as I have.
